I thought I'd pre-empt this discussion before Kona's comment in the other thread sparked it off there. There is concrete proof that we evolved, but no proof that we were created. What's you're opinion, and why?

To quote Phoebe from Friends: "I guess the real question is who put those fossils there and why?"

Evolution is a fact of existance, but I think God(take your pick)created the universe. It would be a sad lonely universe without God.It would be a cruel joke on having a soul and sentiency if you spent your whole life learning and striving for anything only to become non-existant at the end.

Please don't hate me for what I'm about to say, but man created God not the other way around. We created him for peace of mind, for security and safety and because we can't explain our own creation and more so the creation of the universe, so we say God created it. Just like Braniac said, it would be pretty crappy if all you get is the 80 or so years you are alive on this planet. My guess is that's exactly how it is, no after-life, no heaven, no hell...just the end. I know I'm very much the minority in this belief, 97% of the world does believe in God...in some form or another, but the main reason I don't believe is that I'm not sure which 'religion' has it right. Is Jesus the son of God and the messiah? Is Mohammed the profit to God and messiah? Have we not seen the messiah yet? Is there such a thing as the messiah? Do we have a sun god and a water god and a sand god etc. etc.? Which one do I believe? I don't know, therefore I don't.

Anyway, to answer Grayhaze's question, every other species on this planet evolved, what makes us so different? I also think Darwin had it correct and he only changed his views before he died because of all the flak he got for believing what he did...so he probably just changed his beliefs to give in to social pressure. The fact is we CAN'T and never will explain where we (the universe) came from, it is never ending...hard to fathom but that's just the way it is...

You live, after that you die, and its over.

Q: if there is a god, why is there war, and evry day there die A LOT of people because they dont have food.

if there is a god, he (or she... dont let me get flamed for something THAT easy ) died a long time ago for me.

As to whether or not I believe the literal genesis account in the bible,no,but curiously the order if creation would be correct if you could compress time and become an observer.Light ,planets,atmosphere,oceans,life,man...

You kinda have to look at life as a test or an apprenticeship. If becoming ethically advanced were easy or automatic, what would be the point? You havnt accomplished anything.THATS why life is tough.

Here is my opinion:

I belive in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. There is no other explanation as why I have seen ill people healed before my eyes with the power of prayer and of the laying on of hands.

I also believe there is a Devil. How can Good exist without Evil? Unforantly The Evil One pulls the cloth over everyone's eyes. So some do not believe.

I believe we were created. But who is to say evolution did not play a role in that? After all, the Bible says our lives are to God but a blink of his eye. So when he created the Universe and Earth and Man, that could have taken years upon years. For all we know a year to God is a million years for us.

I really get mad when people say the earth or something from earth is millions of years old. I go by the Bible. If you count up all the years in the Good book, the earth is around 12000 to 15000 years old.

I guess it comes down to my faith. None of you here can deter me from my beliefs as a Christan, and never will.

Thanks for listening.

A: because man makes his own choices and has freewill.
on Sep 11, 2003
And without freewill there is no growth.

Well, if God created us, I think he should have made us skinnable!

Kona, we dated Dinosaurs 65,000,000 years ago? How can you possibly believe such a thing?!

Just just stick your fingers in your ears, bury your head in the sand, and call it 'faith'

hehe paxxy!
I think God gave us a paradise first, but we screwed it up not listening to his instructions and trying to do things our own way (as we usually do) so him being the good parent he is he said "I'll give you one more try" make your decision on your own though (cuz of course nobody likes to be forced into anything right?)

and from what I gather he will take his "good" children to Heaven
problem is we're all stuck over here w/ so much trouble to get into how in "this" world does he expect us to make it to Heaven to go be w/ him?

I know the only chance I have is to pack my stuff and go move into one of these Churches outside my door and stay there until I die (but they don't play the tunes I like) hehe

The earth 12-15,000 years old...

Thanks Kona...I needed a good laugh this morning

We will all know when this insignificant little existence is over Which will be very soon
