Today I received the following e-mail from someone who shall remain nameless:

"Im using your dinksdx-blue skin for windwowsblinds and i think it is really awful.
i love the tab with the controlls for winamp. the buttons for next song etc are working, but it doesn't display the title of the song which is playing. did i overread something i have to do to activate them?"

I answered his question regardless of his bad manners, but I'm amazed that people like this are out there. What can the logic be in insulting someone's hard work and then asking for help in using it? >

For those people who are having this problem, make sure you have at least version 4.00c of WindowBlinds.

grayhaze, for what it is worth I've *dinksdx-blue* installed in Windowblinds as a keeper.

well that was a contradictory email.

However--why can't an artist get an email that says 'it's awful' no one is 'that' great that everyone will think 'everything' they make is 'spectacular'. I'm sure every artist has had to experience a biting comment.

As they should...it's humbling.

Why should an artist receive a not so favorable comment?

Umm because there is no such thing as making something EVERYONE will like, or think is great. That is ridiculous! Why doesn't the person who thinks 'it sucks' have a right to say...'it sucks'?

And I am sorry, as much as I do like this site--there is little room for the TRUTH. If someone actually said, "This is really awful" to a fellow artist it would be uproar!

Bottom line is; EVERY artist makes SOMETHING that someone will think is AWFUL! And that person has the RIGHT to say what they feel.

Why should someone be humbled? Everyone experiences something, somewhere in someway that is humbling.

who decides why or when someone should be humbled?

Well to be quite honest I don't think on a level of, "Well Joe Shmoe is getting a lil too cocky--think I'll kick him a notch or two." I don't work that way. However if you get a comment on a design and let's say this person says, "to be honest...it's pretty mickey mouse.I don't see why everyone's raving about it, because fact of the matter is I think it's pretty awful!"

Now if that artist, then turns around after reading that, suddenly becomes appauled and wonders how dare this person say such a thing. That artist NEEDS HUMBLING! Because that implies that they feel that they are that darn good, and that is just rudeness!

I had a negative feedback on a wall I did over at DA, and it caught me off guard at first sure. Positive feedback one after another. Then BLAM! one hit...that was not so great. And I found it humbling! I didn't think that person was rude.
In fact, I started at the image looking for what this person saw. And went to their page, and thanked them for checking out my image, and noted that I read and considered his comment, respected his opinion and thanked him for his honesty.

That was a HUMBLING moment for me. And did I like it? Well no. But I respected it, and reminded me that everything I make is not always so great.

P.S. Again I add, that email was very contradictory.

Lady Akasha - 6/17/2003 9:13:33 PM well that was a contradictory email.

not only that, it the equivaliant of a Square Knot being sent in the form of an email leaving some it seems to snatch at the sum of it's nexus?

However--why can't an artist get an email that says 'it's awful' no one is 'that' great that everyone will think 'everything' they make is 'spectacular'.

kind of presumptious of the sender wouldn't it be? or maybe describing the need to knock the artist down a knotch or two, closer to the lowers where they feel, for what ever the reason, they might reside?

I'm sure every artist has had to experience a biting comment.

oh, without a doubt...

As they should...

Why?

Why should they? please explain this reasoning.

it's humbling.

who decides why or when someone should be humbled?

please explain this reasoning also?
